Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine & Nutrition
HOw it Works & What it treats
True holistic health comes from the free flowing of blood, nutrients, and energy on both the physical and emotional planes. As a practitioner, it is my duty to help uncover where the blockages are that create disease and find a course of treatment to liberate them to reveal a deeper and more profound level of wellness.
The World Health Organization (WHO), whose authority concerning health-related matters internationally cannot be challenged, has compiled a list of symptoms, syndromes, disease processes, pathologies, traumas and conditions that have definitely been proven as effectively treated by acupuncture.
In an official report, Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials, the WHO has listed the following symptoms, diseases and conditions that have been shown through controlled trials to be treated effectively by acupuncture:
adverse reactions to radiation or chemotherapy
allergic rhinitis, including hay fever
depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke)
acute bacillary dysentery
acute and chronic gastritis
low back pain
periarthritis of the shoulder
facial pain (including craniomandibular disorders)
tempromandibular (TMJ) dysfunction
induction of labor
correction of malposition of fetus (breech presentation)
nausea and vomiting
Beyond the declaration of the World Health Organization, in my clinical experience some areas that I commonly find success with are:
sleep issues/ insomnia
traumatic brain injury recovery
numerous digestive imbalances including food sensitivities
acid reflux and healing after acid blocker consumption
complex syndromes that are “difficult to diagnose”
Chinese Medicine has the most ancient and sophisticated herbal medical knowledge in the world. The first record of early pharmacological data collection on plants began 156 BC. It has been added to and refined for thousands of years. Eastern Herbalism has a unique understanding how herbs in specific combination can be directed to different parts of the body.
As a practitioner of Chinese Herbal Medicine, I am frequently humbled and in awe of herbs healing abilities. I utilize both raw, powered and capsulated herbal pills to customize formulas to maximize effects for each individual patient.
My goal with each patient is to find the herbal formula that is most effective for their ailments and their individual body’s function, and use acupuncture only when the extra boost is needed to get things on the right path.
I am passionate about herbal medicine and truly believe each of us can benefit from them even when well. I routinely take a variety of adaptogens, brain support, immune boosters and vitality tonics just to keep me up and running to the best of my ability. I am scrupulous about only utilizing the most powerful and pure herbs that are imported under the most strict international standards.
Nutrition is the most effective preventative medicine on the planet.
Somehow in our post-Industrial world we have lost track of the importance of the effects of food on our wellness, and are often fed misleading and false information.
Food education and guidance takes precedence over all in my treatment setting. Even common beliefs about what is healthy eating is misleading and often wrong (you are likely over-doing it on the salads!). With each treatment we discuss and review your diet to make sure what you are eating is best for your body in this season for the condition you are treating.
As an enthusiastic team-member at Helios Integrated Medicine I am thrilled to work beside Dr. Pierre Brunchwig MD, Deborah Breakell NP, and Cristi Clark RN.
We are passionate about offering a variety of medical trainings from homeopathy, IV Nutrient Therapy, Chinese Medicine and traditional Western Medicine with the intention of offering the most efficient an effective path to wellness for each of our patients.
We have an on-sight Apothecary that supplies supplements, herbal medicine, and products that we have proven effective through our own lab-testing and research. It is within this setting, that I have learned a great deal about how to integrate traditional herbal remedies with supplements, and understand lab work and serve as a bridge from the traditional to modern medicine.
